Become a VNA of Venango County Hospice Volunteer

A Hospice Volunteer is a vital member of the interdisciplinary hospice team. If you are a compassionate, caring individual who has an interest in giving of your time to help a terminally ill patient and their family or help those who are grieving, then YOU have the qualities we are looking for in our volunteers.

No job is too big or too small for our volunteers. Often the most important thing a hospice volunteer can do is offer a smile, hold a hand, and listen.

Anyone age 18 or older can become one of our hospice volunteers by completing a brief, free of charge training program provided by the VNA of Venango County. In this program, you will learn about the hospice philosophy, your role on the interdisciplinary hospice team, communication skills, psychosocial and spiritual aspects of end of life care, and grief. All volunteers must pass all screenings and clearances.

A hospice volunteer has the opportunity to help in many ways which include spending time with patients, providing clerical support to our office staff, special projects, and public events.
